Mandate
The mandate of the Certification and Development Committee is to :
- Ensure the certification process for AAQ members according to well-defined recognition criteria;
- Ensure that requests for certification are forwarded to the AAQ Board of Directors (BOD) or Executive Council (EC);
- Promote certification to AAQ members and the general public;
- Foster the acquisition and development of AAQ members' professional skills;
- Promote professional development programs that meet the needs of AAQ members;
- Establish close ties with educational institutions offering archival training, and with any organization offering training and development relevant to AAQ members;
- Facilitate and strengthen the development work undertaken by regional sections through the exchange of knowledge, contacts and know-how;
- Promote multidisciplinarity and interdisciplinarity in the training and development of members.
Functions
The Committee fulfills its mandate by carrying out the following activities:
- Develop, in collaboration with the regional sections, virtual training and development programs to be offered to all AAQ members;
- In collaboration with the Communications Committee and the AAQ Secretariat, keep the training web page on the AAQ website up to date;
- Coordinate surveys of AAQ members to identify their training and development needs;
- Coordinate the development of standards, procedures and operating tools to standardize training and development practices;
- Establish and maintain data inventories listing speakers, training and development activities offered by theAAQ or any other relevant information that may serve as a reference for regional sections, the Convention Committee or other AAQ bodies with an interest in the subject;
- Monitor new trends in training and development to keep the AAQ offer up to date;
- Carry out pilot projects to test and implement new, innovative technological means of disseminating and promoting the AAQ's training and development offering.
