It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Ginette Noël, on August 20, 2025, at the age of 76. A former president and secretary of the Association des archivistes du Québec (AAQ), she left her mark on the history of our profession.

Ginette Noël devoted her career to the development and management of archives. A municipal archivist with the City of Quebec for many years, she was a central figure in the development of archival practices in Quebec. In an interview published in 1992 in Cap-aux-Diamants magazine, she stressed the importance of the archival profession, particularly at the International Congress on Archives held in Montreal in 1992. She spoke of the challenges and changes facing the profession, in particular the integration of new technologies such as videodiscs.

In 1986, she was a founding member of the Regroupement des archivistes du Québec (RAQ), along with Guy Dinel, Louise Tremblay, Brother Gilles Beaudet and Christiane Huot. This initiative aimed to strengthen recognition and collaboration within the Quebec archival community.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones at this difficult time.
