Description :

Moving archives is a reality that archivists may be confronted with several times in their professional lives. It can take many different forms: transferring holdings, relocating a repository to another room or building on a temporary or permanent basis, or even (re)fitting out an entire archive department/center. Moving an archive is far from a trivial operation, given the need to ensure the durability, accessibility and traceability of documents. Drawing on various experiences in the private archive sector, the trainer proposes to compare the theoretical approach of best practice guides, drawn from the archival discipline or project management, with the principles of reality (including obstacles, budgetary limits, unforeseen circumstances). This cross-disciplinary approach will enable participants to develop the skills and tools they need to support the four stages of a move: organizing, preparing, carrying out and evaluating (or reacting to...). This training course is aimed at all archive professionals facing or likely to face the challenges of an archive move or reorganization, and who wish to prepare for it.
