AI in all its forms is taking root everywhere, in business processes and in our everyday lives. Data is the raw material of AI. The most accessible data is structured data in databases, but this data is often poorly managed, and of poor quality. The results of AI are sometimes disappointing and even occasionally dangerous (fake news, dangerous actions, etc.).
This ignores the fact that archivists have been managing unstructured data of recognized quality and reliability for centuries, and that AIs can make great use of it.
AI still makes very little use of archives for training and updating purposes.
And yet! Archiving enhances the quality and reliability of AI through reliable training data (categorization, classification).
Thus, the provision of :
- guarantees real, verified data for AI
- helps reduce the risk of AI biases and hallucinations, and should form part of AI governance and data mapping to inform and
- Controlling AI risks helps reduce the impact of greenhouse gas emissions.

The aim of this conference will be to provide a clear and practical introduction to Copilot, with a particular focus on its usefulness for document management professionals. We will also cover the features of SharePoint Premium, which offers advanced tools for document management and collaboration.
The conference aims to answer questions on security, confidentiality and the transformation of internal processes. Through concrete examples, you'll discover how Copilot and SharePoint Premium can alleviate repetitive tasks while improving document governance.
This conference is specifically aimed at archivists working with SharePoint Online and other Microsoft 365 tools, offering them innovative solutions to optimize their productivity and strengthen document lifecycle management.

User perception of access to archival and library collections is currently undergoing a transformation. Users, who have integrated database searching into their daily lives with products such as Google, now expect their "GLAM" institutions to be able to offer similar services. Anyone working in the industry understands that this expectation is hard to meet. Whether it's budget cuts or a lack of knowledge about the digital world, it all comes together to create an uneven online experience. It's hardly surprising that the "digital transformation" so desired by our leaders is slow to have the desired effect on society. The presentation will therefore focus on the concrete actions taken by Library and Archives Canada to incorporate these new technologies into its access practices, the fruits of these efforts, and the possibilities offered by artificial intelligence in a constantly evolving context.
