For this first edition of Spotlight, the Professional Affairs Committee wishes to highlight the commitment of the Regroupement des archivistes religieux, a group of enthusiasts who have been working together for over 45 years!

In 2023, the Regroupement des archivistes religieux (RAR) proudly celebrates 45 years of commitment and passion for the preservation of religious heritage. RAR's work was highlighted in the article "Penser à l'avenir pour préserver le passé". The current team is made up of professionals such as Caroline Brunet of the Archives des Missionnaires Oblats de Marie Immaculée and David Bureau of Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal. Since its foundation in 1978, RAR has adapted to the growing challenges of its sector. Beginning with the training of religious men and women, it has evolved to offer lay archivists the tools they need to understand the language and specificities of religious life.

RAR's commitment to heritage preservation is remarkable, as demonstrated by its actions in the 1990s, notably the reopening of the Séminaire de Québec's historical archives. Today, it is carrying out promising projects, such as a feasibility study for the creation of regional archive centers and training courses on archive transfer, while collaborating with BAnQ to protect this precious heritage.

As we celebrate this anniversary, we salute not only the ground we've covered, but also the future projects that will continue to strengthen RAR's vital role in promoting religious archives.
