Regroupement des archivistes religieux financial assistance program
In order to support a member organization of the Regroupement des archivistes religieux (RAR) in a project involving the treatment, conservation, restoration or dissemination of religious archives, the RAR Board of Directors invites you to take a look at the financial assistance program. For the year 2025, RAR-ci has decided to award two grants of $1500 each.
The program is open to regular members, deserving members and associate members who can handle religious archives. To enable Board members to participate in this program, the two people who won the previous year's bursary sit on the selection committee. The applicant archive must be located in Canada.
The following criteria will be used to select the organization to be funded:
- The project must relate explicitly to Canadian religious history.
- The project applies to textual archives, iconographic archives (photographs, drawings), moving images (films), sound archives or architectural maps and plans in all media (analog and digital).
- The grant application may be submitted by the representative of a congregation, a diocese or archdiocese, or an institute of consecrated life. This individual, religious or lay, member of the RAR and belonging by his or her work or consecrated life to one or other of these organizations may submit an application, providing written proof of support from his or her employer or superiors.
- The amount must be devoted to a fonds, series or item belonging to a member archive of the RAR through the implementation of a treatment, conservation, restoration or dissemination project, including projects involving the digitization of documents and digital management projects.
- The bursary holder undertakes to present his/her project at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025. An activity report and blog post are expected before the 2026 AGM.
- The project must stand out for the seriousness of its approach by providing, in particular, complete information relating to goals, timetable and budget.
Exclusions:
- Projects involving book collections or religious objects will not be accepted.
- The grant cannot be used to acquire archives.
- An archive may not receive the grant for two consecutive years.
Applications must be submitted no later than December 15, 2024 to rar.subvention@gmail.com. The two winners will be announced at the end of January 2025.
