The AAQ invites its members to take note of the launch of the 2024-2025 cycle of UNESCO's Memory of the World Program:

The Canadian Commission for UNESCO and the Memory of the World Advisory Committee are pleased to launch their 2024-2025 cycle.

The Memory of the World Program is a national and international commemorative designation recognizing significant examples of documentary heritage, including single items or entire fonds and collections. Collections that have been recognized in the past include the archives of the National Center for Truth and Reconciliation, the Viola Desmond Court Archive, and the archives of Doctors Banting and Best concerning the discovery of insulin.

This year, the Memory of the World Committee is particularly interested in nationally significant archival collections relating to science, technology, engineering and mathematics. This special theme does not preclude the nomination of other documents, fonds or collections of national importance.

The call for nominations is now open. The deadline for submitting expressions of interest is January 31, 2025.
